FlexChords (www.flexchords.com) finds the chords, key and tempo of songs from YouTube videos and audio files you upload. This page explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. Questions: support@flexchords.com.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Google, email or phone, we receive your name, email address, phone number and profile photo, depending on the method. Passwords and one-time codes are handled by Google Firebase; we never see them.
- Your library and credits. The songs you analyse (title, artist, thumbnail, key, tempo, length) and how many free analyses you have left this month.
- Audio you upload. We store the file and its chord chart so you can play and reopen it. Uploads are not shown in search, popular songs or our sitemap, but anyone you share the song's link with can open it.
- YouTube songs. Chord charts for YouTube videos are shared: once a video is analysed, its chart is public and can appear in search and popular songs. We count plays using a one-way hash of your IP address, so the same visitor isn't counted twice in a day.
- Chord edits. Charts you edit are saved privately to your account. Nobody else sees them.
- Feedback. What you write, your email if you give it, the page you were on, your browser and device type, and your account ID if you are signed in.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited, what people search for, which songs are opened and analysed, and when people sign in. Google also receives your browser, device and approximate location, and sets cookies to do this.
- Browser storage. Your sign-in session, your notification setting and whether you have seen certain notices are kept in your browser.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, analyse songs, keep your library, credits and edits.
- To send a welcome email when you create an account.
- To fix problems you report and to understand how FlexChords is used.
- To improve chord detection. If "Help improve chord detection" is on (Profile → Preferences), we may study the differences between our charts and your edits, without your name or contact details attached. You can turn this off at any time.
We don't sell your data or show ads.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run FlexChords for us:
- Google: Firebase sign-in (with reCAPTCHA for phone sign-in), Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage and Analytics.
- Modal: runs the chord analysis.
- Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services: host and deliver the site and send email.
- YouTube: videos play in YouTube's embedded player, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, library, uploads and edits while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete them. Shared charts for YouTube videos stay on the site, as they are not tied to you.
Your choices
- Email support@flexchords.com to see, correct or delete your data, or to delete your account.
- Turn "Help improve chord detection" off in Profile → Preferences.
- Reset an edited chart to the original with Reset to AI.
- Block analytics cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out add-on.
Children
FlexChords is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Disclaimer
FlexChords is an ear-training, transcription and practice tool for musicians and learners. Videos play through YouTube's official embedded player, and all recordings, compositions and musical works belong to their copyright holders. Chords, keys and tempos are estimates made by our chord recognition model, for personal study, practice and educational use.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
